Much has happened since the last ACT-UAW Update - enough to keep us too busy to assemble a November issue. We've had the fastest
election in ACT-UAW history (all candidates ran unopposed and were elected by acclamation), revived our semi-annual newsletter,
the Adjunct Voice, and been getting the word out about some important Fall deadlines - more below.

Membership Meeting - Monday December 11
Please attend the ACT-UAW Membership Meeting on Monday December 11 at 6pm, at 65 Fifth Avenue Room F200, New York. On the
agenda:
* Election Committee report on Election 2006-2 (more about the election below)
* Fall 2006 wrap-up and Spring 2007 preview from President Joel Schlemowitz
* Celebrate the return of the Adjunct Voice (more about this below too)
NYU Reappointment Letter Due Friday December 15
NYU Unit members who have taught at least six Fall or Spring semesters in the past six years should submit a reappointment
letter to their department chairperson by December 15.
View a sample letter that you can use or modify >>
The letter guarantees your right to reappointment, health care, and termination pay, as provided in Article X (ten) of our
contract, if you have taught the required number of semesters.
Read Article X here >>
If you are unsure whether you qualify, send the letter anyway. Without the letter, you forego your rights.
Send the letter to your department chairperson, and send or email a copy to us too. If you are eligible, you will be notified
by your department no later than May 21, 2007 of your appointment(s) for 2007-08.
Members who have taught ALL of the following semesters should receive appointments for both Fall 2007 and Spring 2008:
Fall 03, Spring 04, Fall 04, Spring 05, Fall 05, Spring 06. Members who have taught at least six Fall or Spring semesters
in the past six years should receive at least one appointment for 2007-08.
If you have any questions, please contact us >>
New School Availability Solicitation Coming December 15
On December 15, The New School will send members a solicitation for 2007-08 availability and schedule preferences. If you
are a New School Unit member and do not receive your solicitation by December 22, contact The New School.
The deadline for responding to the solicitation is February 1, 2007. Look for more information about how to respond in
the January 2007 ACT-UAW Update.
New ACT-UAW Officers Elected
On November 13, we welcomed nineteen new ACT-UAW officers:
* First Vice President: Kathleen Bishop
* Trustees: Jan Clausen, Kay Kenny
* New School Unit Joint Council Delegates: Mary Barto, Wilfred "Bill" Brandt, Patrick Michael Hughes, Karen
Klingon, Susan Sherman, Barbara Siegel, Paula Stuttman, Robert Weber
* New School Unit Steward: Alan Braun
* NYU Unit Joint Council Delegates: Benjamin Coopersmith, Donna Drewes, Zoya Kocur, Laura Morgan, Robert Schaefer Jr.,
Jessica Seigel
* NYU Unit Steward: Ken Caffrey Jr.
Because all of these members ran unopposed, ACT-UAW's Election Committe declared them to be elected by acclamation, in
accordance with the Election Rules.
But we still have a vote ahead: the Election Committee will present its report on this election at the Membership Meeting
on Monday December 11 (more about the meeting above). We urge you to attend and vote whether to accept the report.
