ACT-UAW (UAW Local 7902)
2010 International Convention Delegate Election
Notice of Nominations

Published April 10, 2010

ACT-UAW (UAW Local 7902) is holding an election for its Delegates to the UAW's 2010 International Convention. The Delegates represent ACT-UAW in all matters at the convention, which will take place in June. The UAW has determined that each ACT-UAW Unit (New School, NYU) will elect two Regular Delegates, who will attend the convention, and two Alternate Delegates, who will attend only if the Regular Delegates are unable to do so.

If you are eligible to be a Delegate, you have already been automatically nominated. This is the only notice of nomination you will receive. To run for any of these Delegate seats, you must follow the highlighted instructions below.

Delegates to be Elected
You are eligible, and have been automatically nominated, if:
New School Unit Regular Convention Delegate (2 seats)
New School Unit Alternate Convention Delegate (2 seats)
You have been a member in continuous good standing* of the UAW since June 1, 2009, and ACT-UAW's New School Unit since March 1, 2010.
NYU Unit Regular Convention Delegate (2 seats)
NYU Unit Alternate Convention Delegate (2 seats)
You have been a member in continuous good standing* of the UAW since June 1, 2009, and ACT-UAW's NYU Unit since March 1, 2010.

* Member in continuous good standing: A person who has signed an ACT-UAW membership application, and has either paid dues or signed a dues authorization allowing his or her employer to deduct dues from his or her pay. This is not the same as a member in good standing, which is a person who has signed an ACT-UAW membership application, and has not notified ACT-UAW of his or her permanent separation from ACT-UAW's Units. Nominees must be members in continuous good standing, for the periods listed above; whereas voters must simply be members in good standing.

If you meet the requirements shown above, you are eligible for election as a Delegate, and you have already been automatically nominated. This is the only notice of nomination you will receive.

To run, you must accept the nomination in writing, delivered either by mail (we recommend return receipt requested for proof of mailing) or by hand to:

ACT-UAW Election Committee
256 West 38th Street, Suite 702
New York NY 10018

All acceptances must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 28, 2010. WE CANNOT ACCEPT ELECTION NOMINATIONS OR ACCEPTANCES BY EMAIL, FAX OR PHONE. YOU CANNOT ACCEPT A NOMINATION ON THE BEHALF OF ANOTHER PERSON.

Your acceptance letter must include the following information:

  • Your name
  • The ACT-UAW Unit that you belong to and wish to represent at the convention (either New School Unit or NYU Unit)
  • The type of Delegate you wish to become, which must be one, and only one, of the types listed in the table above (New School Regular Convention Delegate, New School Alternate Convention Delegate, NYU Regular Convention Delegate, NYU Alternate Convention Delegate)
  • Your email address

  • Today's date

In addition to the automatic nominations described above, any member may nominate any other members s/he desires. To nominate a fellow member, you must send notification in writing, either by certified mail (return receipt requested) or by hand delivery, to ACT-UAW Election Committee, 256 West 38th Street, Suite 702 New York NY 10018, by April 21, 2010.
