June 28, 2011 - We want to take this opportunity to point out some of the improvements in our new contract that will
affect you as the coming academic year approaches:
Wages
As you know, our recently ratified new contract
makes provisions for a $300 bonus for the 2010-2011 academic year. The University administration has informed the Union that
they expect to send out this payment in mid July. If you do not receive your payment by mid August at the latest, please let
us know.
Salaries will be increased by the following amounts:
$4.00 per contact hour or 3.5% for compensation
on a basis other than contact hours
Health Insurance
Many adjunct faculty who were previously not eligible
for health insurance are now eligible (ie. summer teaching), and many more will see an increase in the contribution to health
insurance from the university. These changes in eligibility and University contribution include:
- 168 contact
hours in an academic year receive 100% individual contribution towards family coverage.
- Summer contract hours
to be included for determining health care eligiblity/contribution.
- Winter Intersession appointment shall be
deemed to be Spring semester appointment.
You must enroll every year during the Open Enrollment Period (in October
or November) for your adjunct health insurance program. You will be notified of the enrollment period THROUGH YOUR NYU EMAIL
ACCOUNT. In order to avoid loss of your health insurance, check that account regularly and be sure to update all contact information
with the Benefits Office.
Please consult the 2010-2016 Memorandum of Agreement and the 2004-2010 Contract for all other rights and improvements.
Check your NYU email account regularly because the University administration
uses it for many important notices.
